Two members of the Salem track team have moved on to the Missouri Class 3 Track and Field Championships, to be held Friday and Saturday.
Senior Savannah Manthey of the Lady Tigers and junior Bryson May of the Salem boys’ squad qualified for the state championships through the Sectional 3 Meet Saturday at West Plains High School.
The top four finishers in each event move on from sectionals to the state championships, to be held at Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School.
At sectionals Saturday, Manthey advanced by winning the girls’ javelin with a throw of 128-9, while May was fourth in the boys’ triple jump at 41-3 ¾.
At the state championships both Manthey and May are to compete in their respective events Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m.
