Sid Pearson can take the interim off his title as Dent County Prosecuting Attorney.
Gov. Jay Nixon Tuesday appointed Pearson, Cuba, as prosecuting attorney for Dent County.
The position became vacant after the governor appointed Brandi L. Baird as Associate Circuit Judge in March. Pearson has been serving as interim Dent County Prosecuting Attorney since then. He was appointed Interim Prosecutor by Circuit Judge Kelly Parker.
Pearson previously served as prosecuting attorney in Crawford County from 1998 to 2010. From 1995-1998 he was the executive director and managing attorney for Meramec Area Legal Aid, representing the indigent in a 12-county area. In 2007 he received the Equal Access to Justice Award from Legal Aid of Southern Missouri.
Pearson served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971-1974, completing three tours in Vietnam and Thailand.
Pearson holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Missouri, Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) and a law degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
He has been a member of the Missouri Bar since 1982.
