The Dent County Commission met for its regular meeting Thursday, Sept. 25 and Monday, Sept. 29. In attendance included First District Commissioner Keith Green, Second District Commissioner Jimmy Williams, Presiding Commissioner Gary Larson, and County Clerk Angie Curley.
Treasurer Denita Williams reported on CART funds received for August, $97,487. This is up from last year 7.5%.
Curley reported that bills are to be approved. She plans to do a voter registration drive at the Salem High School Oct. 21. Students can register to vote at 17 and a half, so long as they are 18 before or on election day.
In addition, Curley informed that the State Auditor’s office called informing Dent County is on rotation for the contracted audit for 2025.
The commission received a letter from MRPC on dues for the year. This would be for 18 membership service hours. The commission unanimously agreed to pay the lowest MRPC membership dues at $6,063.70, including the 18 service hours.
District One Commissioner Keith Green
Crew members are planning to grade county roads 6470 and 5070, along with hauling rock to County Road 5070. A new employee will be trained on brush-cutting on County Road 6250.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members are planning to grade county roads 4380, 4390, 4060, and 4070, along with hauling rock to county roads 4380 and 4060. Grader blades will be changed. A couple
District One Commissioner Keith Green
Crew members will be working on equipment and checking chip and seal roads, preparing for the winter and spring season. Crew members are planning to grade County Road 5220.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members will be out grading county roads 3330, 4060, 5225, and 5240. Brush cutting is planned for county roads 2315, 2390. Crew members will also be patching chip and seal County Road 2240.
