Greetings from the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce office. I am wrapping up my first month as executive director. It is a pleasure to serve the community in this position, and I look forward to seeing growth and additional support as the year 2026 quickly approaches.
I was asked to share a monthly column as chamber director, and this is the first installment.
We had another successful rodeo over Labor Day weekend with near perfect weather and crowds that were ready for rodeo action!
The chamber office has stayed busy over the past month, as plans are being made for a variety of events and fundraisers in the busy fall season.
A good way to keep up to date is to follow Salem MO Area Chamber on Facebook and watch the community calendar at www.salemmo.com/calendar.
If you are planning an event, let us know by emailing chamber@salemmo.com, calling 573-729-6900, or stopping by 1136 South Main Street.
Looking forward, there are two major projects in the works for the chamber.
The first is updating the visitor guide, last printed in 2024. These guides are distributed all over the state to other chamber offices, visitors’ centers, in relocation packets, and more. The 22-page guide lists a variety of local points of interest, as well as shopping, dining, and a calendar of events.
The second is an updated business directory, last printed in 2023. This comprehensive directory includes advertising and an organized list of area businesses. It’s a handy guide to keep near you at work or home for a quick reference of contact information.
More information on both projects is forthcoming as plans continue.
If you have suggestions or comments for the chamber, reach out anytime.
