Marking the completion of his first year in office, Lieutenant Governor David Wasinger today released his 2025 Year in Review, detailing a year of legislative leadership and statewide initiatives focused on protecting seniors, advocating for veterans, strengthening Missouri’s economy, and responsibly executing the duties of the office.
“It has been an honor to serve the people of Missouri,” said Lt. Governor Wasinger. “This past year was about fulfilling the responsibilities of this office with care, accountability, and a deep respect for the people we serve.”
Sworn into office on January 13, 2025, Lt. Governor Wasinger led efforts this year to enhance senior protection, expand veterans’ services, and promote economic growth. The report highlights significant accomplishments, including a statewide elder protection tour and continued expansion of the Buy Missouri program.
As President of the Missouri Senate, the Lieutenant Governor presided over the First Regular Session of the 103rd General Assembly and two Extraordinary Sessions. During these sessions, lawmakers enacted legislation strengthening public safety, delivering tax relief, and advancing protections for life.
Senior protection emerged as a major focus of the Lieutenant Governor’s Office in 2025. As Missouri’s statutory advocate for seniors, Lt. Governor Wasinger led statewide efforts to improve accountability in long-term care facilities. His office hosted a statewide “Protect Our Seniors” Tour, bringing together families, legal experts, local officials, and representatives of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit to raise awareness of elder abuse and strengthen oversight. The office also recognized eleven Missourians through the annual Senior Service Awards for their contributions to their communities.
The Year in Review also details the Lieutenant Governor’s work as Missouri’s Veterans Advocate. In November, he hosted the Missouri Veterans Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the State Capitol, honoring six veterans and one honorary inductee for their military service and community leadership. Lt. Governor Wasinger also met with U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins to discuss improving coordination on veterans services and visited both Fort Leonard Wood and Whiteman Air Force Base to meet with service members and base leadership.
Economic development efforts remained a priority throughout 2025. The Buy Missouri program supporting in-state manufacturing, small business growth, and workforce development continued to expand. As of October, the program included 686 participating businesses employing more than 21,000 Missourians, with 24 new businesses added during the year. The Lieutenant Governor hosted Buy Missouri Day at the Capitol, promoted program partners at the Missouri State Fair, and visited manufacturers across the state.
The report also highlights support for statewide cultural and educational initiatives through the Missouri Arts Council and Missouri Humanities Council. In Fiscal Year 2025, the Arts Council awarded grants to 493 organizations to strengthen arts education, community development, and cultural programming. Through Missouri Humanities, the Lieutenant Governor helped recognize Missouri’s history and small communities, including during the annual Lieutenant Governor’s Missouri Humanities Celebration at the State Capitol.
Throughout the year, Lt. Governor Wasinger also served on several boards and commissions, including the Missouri Tourism Commission, Missouri Housing Development Commission, Missouri Development Finance Board, Board of Public Buildings, and Missouri State Capitol Commission, contributing to the stewardship of Missouri’s infrastructure, tourism economy, and public services.
