Christmas auction held by Rotary Club of Salem

Salem Rotary hosted an auction during its Christmas meeting Dec. 22. Proceeds will benefit the planned animal shelter aiming to assist in the feral cat problems facing Salem and Dent County.
Items included lottery tickets, cookies, gift certificates, a handblown glass bowl, Swedish dishcloths, soap, a giant chocolate chip cookie, and more. Proceeds from the event totaled $154. Salem Rotary was also proud to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to two families in the community. Salem Rotary will be dark on Monday, Dec. 29 and the next meeting will be Monday, Jan. 5.

John Hewkin has been a sports fan since he was a kid. He’s played, coached and been a fan of sports. I was a sports writer for 15 years before moving back to Missouri, but to this day you will still find me in my man cave a lot of nights and weekends watching something that requires a ball.
