In the boys’ meet Van Buren won the 5,000-meter event with 30 points while East Carter was second with 63.

The Salem High School cross country team took a few runners to the season-opening Winona Run With The Elk Meet, held Sept. 3 at Peck Ranch.
In the boys’ meet Van Buren won the 5,000-meter event with 30 points while East Carter was second with 63.
Van Buren’s Landon Street was the meet medalist with 17:18. Nicholas Thies led Salem, finishing 30th at 22:06.
In the girls’ meet Salem’s Zoey Elliott finished second overall with a time of 22:48. Doniphan’s Mla Schrimsher was meet medalist at 22:31.
This week Salem is scheduled to compete at Willow Springs Thursday.
