The Dent County Fire Protection District Board met for its monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 11. In attendance included board members David Greenshields, Mike Godi, Dr. Leigh Ann Price, and Jeff Stokes. Not in attendance was board member Liz Gruendel.
The monthly reimbursement report was presented with a total of 21 calls for the month and 40 total calls for the year.
In old business, an update on the bond was given by Price who stated that several events had been planned to ensure facts were given for voters to make a valid decision on the bond at the next election.
In new business, the board heard from resident Bret Bailey to annex his property into the district. Bailey lives approximately eight miles east of Salem and wants to become a part of the district. After answering questions and discussion, the board gave Bailey the state RSMO and paperwork for review.
The board discussed the lease of the ice maker currently with B&B distributors out of St Louis. After discussion, the board agreed to not renew the contract with B&B. Cintas Service was also discussed with the board agreeing to discontinue the service.
Chief Dennis Floyd reported that Ladder Truck 8012 is back in service after repairs were made, with costs totaling $12,679. Floyd further reported four people attended winter fire school in Columbia at the MU-Fire Rescue Training Institute.
DCFPD will be training on propane tank fires April 12. This is a state-sponsored class and other departments will be invited to participate.
Floyd and board member Stokes will be attending the IDA Board meeting on Feb. 19 in the library basement.
