On February 27, Nathan T. Kelsaw filed to seek the Republican nomination to become the next Dent County Associate Circuit Court Judge, according to a release sent by Kelsaw.
Nathan is a lifelong resident of Missouri. He attended Southwest Missouri State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology and later earned his law degree from Saint Louis University in 2010. Before obtaining his law degree, he worked for the Missouri Division of Youth Services as a Youth Specialist.
Nathan has lived in Salem for close to three years with his wife, Michele, and daughter, Ella. Michele has been connected to Salem since she was a child. She spent many weekends and summers riding horses and playing on her family’s farm located off of Highway 68. For the past seven years, Michele has served on the board of the Riverways Pregnancy Resource Center. Nathan has served Dent County as Assistant Prosecutor to Andrew Curley for over three years. He has also served as the Texas County Assistant Prosecutor for a little over one year. In addition, he is a member of Marxkors & Kelsaw, Attorneys at Law, LLC where he practices law with his wife Michele.
“My wife and I moved to Salem because we thought it was a great place to raise our daughter and Dent County is a beautiful area of the Ozarks with countless natural resources for recreation. We have lived the big city life and it pales in comparison. We have no intention of leaving.”
Throughout his career, Nathan has litigated hundreds of contested cases and conducted numerous jury trials. His experience encompasses the areas of criminal law, family law, landlord-tenant, real estate, civil litigation, probate and administrative law.
“All the types of cases an Associate Circuit Judge hears, I’ve litigated as a lawyer. I believe my experience as a litigator would be a great asset for the position I’m seeking. I want to take that experience and use it to further help Dent County and the judiciary. Ultimately, the Courts belong to the public. It is our Court, not my Court. With that in mind, I will always be patient, dignified, courteous and fair to all.”
