I started using opioids when I was 15 years old. I injured my back playing football in the ninth grade and received a prescription for pain pills. I was given Percocet, 15 mgs. At first, I took them correctly, but sometimes I was hurting so bad that I took two of them. I liked how I felt and this is how I became hooked. When the doctor would not give me more, I started buying them from friends. I started hanging out with the wrong people – junkies. By the time I was 16, I started shooting up oxy’s and morphine.

I couldn’t be trusted. I would steal and lie. As a result, I ended up in prison for a little while. It was in prison that I did heroin for the first time. . . I was in love. I got out of prison and moved to Springfield and was doing well for a year. Then, I got bored and started looking for pills. Within a week I was shooting up morphine again. I was injecting 200-600 mgs a day. I was a full-blown junkie again. I had to have it every day just to be normal.
