Sixteenth District State Senator Dan Brown, Rolla, filed to run for state treasurer as a Republican Feb. 23. He will face fellow Republican State Senator Eric Schmitt, Glendale, in the Aug. 2 primary to determine who will face the Democratic nominee. Schmitt previously announced in July 2014 his plans to run for treasurer.
Judy Baker and Pat Contreras were the Democrats who filed for state treasurer Feb. 23. Baker is a former state lawmaker from Columbia. Contreras is from Kansas City and says he worked for the U.S. Department of State.
