Salem traveled to Houston Thursday night in a conference match-up. A strong start from Salem would not last as Houston used a dominant second half to come back for a 47-38 win.
The Lady Tigers of Salem dominated defensively in the first quarter, allowing just two points in the quarter while scoring 10 points of their own, capped off by half-court buzzer beater from Hailey Corkell. Michaela Chilton and Corkell both scored three points in the quarter, while Madison Woolf and Baylee Bilyeu scored two points each. Play would level out in the second quarter, with both teams scoring 11 points to make 21-13 in Salem's favor at halftime.
Houston used a strong third quarter, outscoring Salem 18-10, to tie the game 31-31 heading into the fourth quarter. Tatum Hatridge picked up six points in the third. Momentum remained in Houston's corner in the fourth quarter, as they outscored Salem 16-7.
The loss drops Salem’s record to 7-12 on the season and 2-3 in the SCA. The Lady Tigers were to host Cuba Monday and Viburnum Thursday in a pair of non-conference games.

Salem played host to Ava in an SCA match-up Jan. 29. Salem would jump out a double-digit lead in the first quarter and hold on for a 49-43 victory.
The Lady Tigers came out of the gates fast, scoring the first eight points of the game en route to a 12-5 lead after one quarter of play. Salem added to its lead in the second quarter with a 13-11 effort to take a 25-16 advantage into halftime.
Ava chipped away at Salem's lead in the third quarter, taking the frame 14-10 to cut the lead to 35-30. The Lady Bears continued to cut into the Lady Tiger advantage in the fourth quarter, cutting it to 38-37 at one point, but Salem would hold on to win.
