The Salem High volleyball squad ended its regular season by going 1-2 in matches last week.
Salem won its Senior Night match over Plato 3-1 (25-20, 25-13, 24-26, 25-15) Monday, Oct. 13 at the SHS gym. The Lady Tigers lost at Mountain View Liberty 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-14)Tuesday, Oct. 14 and lost at Mountain Grove 3-0 (25-20, 27-25, 25-15) Thursday, Oct. 16.
The Salem varsity squad ends the regular season with an 11-21-1 mark.
In junior varsity action the Lady Tigers beat Plato 2-0, stopped Liberty 2-1 (16-25, 25-17, 25-19) and also topped Mountain Grove 2-1 (25-20, 25-27, 25-17).
The Lady Tigers have been seeded fourth for the upcoming Missouri Class 3 District 9 Tournament, to be held Oct. 21-27 at Cuba High School.
Sullivan is the top-ranked district squad while St. Clair is seeded No. 2, Owensville No. 3, Salem No. 4, Cuba No. 5 and St. James No. 6. Sullivan and St. Clair received first-round byes.
In first-round matches Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Cuba, Salem faces host Cuba and St. James plays Owensville.
In the semifinals Thursday, Oct. 23, Sullivan meets the Salem/Cuba winner at 5 p.m. while St. Clair plays the St. James/Owensville winner at 6:30 p.m. The district title match is slated for 6 p.m. Oct. 27.
