The Salem High cross country team competed in a rugged field at the Licking Invitational, held Thursday, Oct. 9 at Deer Lick Park.
Longtime state cross country power West Plains swept to team and medalist victories in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions.
The Zizzers won the boys’ meet with 18 points while Waynesville was second with 94 and Ava third with 138. Salem finished 11th with293. West Plains had the top three finishers in the 5,000-meter boys’ race, led by Hunter Stanley at 16.25. Leading Salem was Stetson Mobray, who finished 66th at 21:29.2.
In the girls’ race West Plains won with 27 points while Camdenton was second with 52. West Plains’ Kaebrynn Gunter was the girls' medalist at 19:11.8. Zoey Elliott led the Lady Tigers, finishing 25th overall at 23:31.3.
This week the Tiger runners were to compete at Willow Springs Monday.
