As I write this, it’s the week after the “No Kings” rally, and I’m watching the millions of Americans who protested in every state and every major city. Never in the history of our country have we seen this level of protest and opposition to an administration. Every aspect of government has been affected by the Trump power grab. Thousands of dedicated public servants have been fired or forced to quit, every American who needs help with their healthcare is being affected, every Veteran is at risk, every military person has been put into a situation that they didn’t sign up for with no pay, and illegal orders.
The Trump tariffs have yet to be ruled upon by the Republican Supreme Court, nor have they been authorized by the Republican Congress. Trump’s declaration of a federal emergency is the question, and the answer is obvious; the only federal emergency is the Trump raid on the Constitution. If the Supreme Court rules “No Emergency”, the tariffs are illegal and must be repaid.
With the current level of deficit spending, there are no resources to fund the billions that would have to be repaid.
The tariffs have caused China to stop buying our soybeans, and farmers cannot depend upon the Federal government to bail them out. Farm workers are scarce, so many crops are rotting in the fields. Troops are being sent into our cities to harass citizens and arrest brown-skinned people. Trump does not care about regular working-class people, he wants to be King, and the Republican Party is complacent. They let him tear down the East wing of the White House to build a replica of Putin’s St. Petersburg Ballroom, right down to the double roman columns. They let him get away with breaking any law and any promise. They shut down the government and try and blame it on the Democrats.
All branches of the Federal government are under the control of the Republican party. Only they can solve this disaster, yet they refuse.
The polling is clear; the Republicans are way down so they are trying to change the Congressional districts to steal a couple of seats. When the people in Missouri started an initiative petition drive to stop them, the Missouri Republicans tried to change the petition process.
The Republican Party is corrupt from the top to the bottom. It would be a lot easier for the GOP to simply give the people the services they need and pay for them with fair taxes for the people and corporations who are getting stinking rich!
