The Oak Hill R-I Board of Education met for its regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, April 11. Those in attendance were Nathan Ragsdale, Amanda Dooley, Amanda Sapaugh, John Hoodenpyle, Daniel England, and Thomas England. Steve Bryant, superintendent, was also in attendance, along with principal Breanna Taylor.
Attendees included Rhonda Hutsell and April Greener.
The motion to accept the certified election results electing to the R-I board Nathan Ragsdale, April Greener, and Rhonda Hutsell was made and carried unanimously. The new board members were then administered the oath of office by superintendent Bryant.
Board officer election results were as follows:
• President – Nathan Ragsdale (6-0-1; Ragsdale abstained)
• Vice president – Amanda Sapaugh (6-0-1; Sapaugh abstained)
• Secretary/Treasurer – Daniel England (6-0-2; England abstained, Sapaugh abstained)
Unanimously approved as presented were:
• The agenda, following an addition of a mowing bid, and minutes from the March 14 board meeting
• Payment of March 2024 bills and April 2024 payroll
• The substitute teacher report
In new business, the board discussed:
• The special education report – the report was unanimously tabled until further information is gathered.
• Lawn care for 2024. Bids were reviewed, and the motion to hire Levi Land Design was made and carried, 6-0-1, with Ragsdale abstaining.
• The school calendar for 2024-25. The decision was made unanimously to switch the day off from Oct. 7 to Oct. 28, have no school April 21, and move the last day of school to May 15.
The board went into closed session at 8:02 p.m. and went back into open session at 9:57 p.m.
During closed session, the board approved the hiring of classified staff: Angela Parker, Nikki Eaton, Melinda Dreisewered, Brenda Ragsdale, Jason Martin, Dale Head, Josiah Beckett, Linda Richardson, Ed Wood, and James Conway.
Resignations accepted were Breanna Taylor as cheerleading coach, and Katelynn Wofford as PAT educator.
