The Dent County Commission met in regular session Thursday, April 17 and Monday, April 21. No meeting will be held on Thursday, April 24. In attendance was presiding commissioner Gary Larson, first district commissioner Keith Green, second district commissioner Jimmy Williams, and county clerk Angie Curley. Not in attendance Thursday was presiding commissioner Larson.
Denita Williams, County Treasurer, reported on the sales tax:
• General revenue received $97,415.85, which is down from last April $1,194.61 and down YTD $724.27, or approximately 0.2%
• Road and bridge received $48,545.37, which is up from last April $5,159.35 and up YTD $12,156.31, or approximately 7.29%
• Jails received $97,474.81, which is up from last April $10,281.13 and up YTD $24,396.67, or approximately 7.28%
After comparing jail and general revenue, Denita shared that the difference is $12,000 less for general revenue, likely due to the jail being the newest sales tax, and, with the Department of Revenue payback, it may be less payment.
Curley reported bills and payroll are to be approved. She further shared that she attended a MAC Board meeting where they heard from Trent Watson, MAC legislative consultant, on legislative updates; steering committee updates; MAC work comp updates; and NACO activities. They were also able to hear from Travis Elliot, MAC general counsel, on legal updates.
