The Dent County Fire Protection District Board met for its monthly meeting Tuesday, April 8. The meeting was held in the Salem Public Library. Members present included David Greenshields, Liz Gruendel, Mike Godi, Dr. Leigh Ann Price, and Jeff Stokes.
The monthly reimbursement report was presented with a total of 44 calls for the month and 100 total calls for the year.
In old business, Price stated the DCFPD board wanted to thank all that voted for Proposition Fire and all the hard work from everyone involved.
In new business, Stokes reported on CD interest rates. Town and Country Bank had the best rate on a seven-month term CD of 4.37%. The board approved investing $30,000 in the Town and Country CD at 4.37%.
Under chief reports, Fire Chief Dennis Floyd presented a bid from Hoffcomp for turnout gear, at $3,619.00 per person, with a total of $10,857.00 for three needed sets. The board asked for more bids; the chief will report and bring more bids back. The goal is to bring the turnout gear up to two per firefighter to comply with NFPA guidelines.
The chief also presented a bid for a skid unit for $23,995.00 and is currently waiting on more bids to come in.
In closed session, the board approved James Hodges as a probationary firefighter following an interview.

• Financial report with all accounts reconciled
• Bills, payments, and statements
