The Dent-Phelps R-III Board of Education met July 1 for its monthly meeting. In attendance included board members Brandon Schloemer, Adam Parker, Kelly Chapman, Bill Manthey, Sarah Parker, and Curt Baldwin. Not in attendance were board members Nick Gover or Caleb Gidcumb.
Also, in attendance included superintendent Vicky Brooker and principal Karla Tiefenthaler, who presented the superintendent’s report and principal’s report, accordingly. The board also took a walkthrough of the facilities.
The Tax Levy Hearing was set for 6 p.m. Aug. 21, with the regular board meeting to follow.
Two bids were received for preventative maintenance on the HVACC: Brown Heating and Cooling, Inc. for $925 and Hartley’s Climate Control, LLC. for $5,576. The board approved giving the bid to Brown Heating and Cooling, Inc.
The board approved the following items:
Agenda and consent agenda, containing bills (check #39214 through #39241), open session minutes from June 24, and the July financial report
• Budget revisions to the 2024-25 budget
• Raising student lunches to $2.70, student breakfast to $1.90, adult lunch $5.50, and adult breakfast to $3.00. This is a $ .10 raise to student meals. Milk will remain the same.
• Extra duty assignment stipends
• Handbooks (Parent/Student, Classified, Certified, and Chromebook) for the 2025-26 school year
