Salem Mayor Gary Brown said city leaders Tuesday closed on the purchase of a section of property that will eventually extend the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Brown said aldermen agreed to buy the one-block section for $62,500 during a recent closed session. The information was not released until the purchase was finalized at the time of the property closing.
