A public hearing on the 2019 Dent County budget is set for 10 a.m. Jan. 28, in the commission meeting room at the Dent County Courthouse.
At the Thursday meeting, commissioners scheduled the hearing and said a tentative county budget will available to the public Jan. 17.
By law, the commission has until Feb. 1 to approve the budget and submit it to the State Auditor’s Office, county clerk Angie Curley said.
Curley said she is continuing to work on the budget, taking budget requests from various officeholders and entering the numbers.
“Different departments are submitting their requests to me and, as they submit their requests, I plug them in and give them to the commissioners. Then they call the officeholders in and look through it,” she explained.
Once the tentative budget is released, commissioners have until the hearing to revise it as final numbers come in, she said.
