The Center for Agroforestry at University of Missouri will lead a workshop from 1-5 p.m. April 11 to help participants learn the basics of growing edible mushrooms on their home or farm.
Along with an overview of “Fungi-mentals,” the mushroom life cycle, and tips on how to get started at home, the workshop will feature hands-on demonstrations.
The workshop participants will build an oyster mushroom totem and winecap mushroom bed that can be integrated with perennial gardens. Participants will also have the chance to inoculate a log with shiitake mushroom spawn that they can take home with them.
The workshop will be held at the Ozark Natural & Cultural Resource Center, 202 S. Main Street in Salem. Cost of the workshop is $20, which includes an inoculated log to take home. The workshop is limited to 30 participants, and RSVP is required to ensure adequate materials.
