The City of Salem Street Department will be providing free curbside yard waste pickup due to the recent wind, ice and snowstorms. Crews will begin picking up yard waste on March 24 and will continue until they have covered the entire city.
• Leaves – must be bagged in clear, recyclable leaf bags available at the City Utility Office (10 for $2.50).
• Limbs and branches – must be bundled securely (max 4” diameter, 48” length, 18” diameter bundles, 75 lbs max).
What will not be picked up:
• Appliances, electronics, furniture, household trash
• Lumber, building materials, recyclables, tires
• Entire trees or large limbs (see limbs and branches above)
The city asks that residents place all yard waste at the curb or back of sidewalk—not in the street—and do not block sidewalks.
For future pickups at $40 per request, contact the City Utility Office at 573-729-4811. The city reserves the right to charge for exceptionally large volumes or recommend private removal.
