Three community health-care entities held a Back to School event Aug. 3 at the Dent County Health Center. Taking part were the DCHC, Four Rivers Community Health Center and Compass Health. Available were drive-through vaccines, sports physicals, screenings for teachers, lead testing and Medicaid enrollment and breakfast or lunch, all free. DCHC director Zach Moser said there were 39 participants – 26 for immunizations, 10 for sports physicals, one teacher/staff physical and two lead screenings. Overall, it was a successful event, Moser said.

John Hewkin has been a sports fan since he was a kid. He’s played, coached and been a fan of sports. I was a sports writer for 15 years before moving back to Missouri, but to this day you will still find me in my man cave a lot of nights and weekends watching something that requires a ball.
