Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, June 17, the following streets were closed for paving: West Dent Street between McArthur Avenue and Washington Street, and South Hickory Street between Scenic Rivers Boulevard and Roosevelt Street.
During the aldermen meeting of May 14, the aldermen approved a bid for hot mix asphalt, as requested by Brent Young, streets superintendent. The bid approved was from Pierce Asphalt, for $107,289. The asphalt will be used to overlay deteriorating existing streets to make them smooth, level, and easier to traverse, with the goal of improving overall street infrastructure.
