Josie Ann, 10, of Salem, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020.
A candlelight vigil in her memory is planned for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Dent County Courthouse lawn.
Candles and lanterns have been provided. Attendees are asked to bring lighters. Jimmy Decker will say a prayer. Mike Wood, of Mr. Jim's Barber Shop, has contacted several motorcycle groups and hopes that representatives will be in attendance.
One of the vigil organizers, Christina Pierce, saw a social media post from Karen Wallis about planning a candlelight vigil. The two women are strangers but came together to help honor the life of Josie.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Josie to the Memorial Fund at Wilson Mortuary. Pierce said any donations received Tuesday, will be donated to the fund, as well. Pierce and others are working on a t-shirt fundraiser to benefit the memorial fund.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem.
