The Oak Hill R-I Board of Education met for two sessions this month: a special open session Thursday, Feb. 8, and its regularly scheduled session Monday, Feb. 12.
During its special open session on Thursday, Feb. 8., those in attendance were Nathan Ragsdale, Amanda Sapaugh, John Hoodenpyle, Daniel England, Thomas England, and Mikel Chambers, along with visitor Steve Bryant. Amanda Dooley was absent.
The board accepted the agenda and open session minutes of the Jan. 9 board meeting, as presented.
During the secretary and treasurer’s report, there was payment and approval of the MUSIC bill.
The board went into closed session at 5:35 p.m. and back to open session at 10:35 p.m. During the closed session, the board tabled the hiring of the principal for the 2024-25 school year until the next scheduled board meeting. During its closed session Feb. 12, the board approved hiring Breanna Taylor as principal for the 2024-25 school year.
The board met for its regularly scheduled session Monday, Feb. 12. Those in attendance were Nathan Ragsdale, Amanda Sapaugh, John Hoodenpyle, Daniel England, Thomas England, and Mikel Chambers, along with visitor Steve Bryant. Amanda Dooley was absent.
The agenda was accepted with the addition of adding Brightspeed and Discovery Schools to the bills.
The board approved as presented:
• the open session minutes of the board meeting on Jan. 19
• special open session minutes of the Feb. 8 board meeting
• secretary and treasurer’s report, including payment of Jan. 2024 bills and Feb. 2024 payroll
Bryant discussed with the board that he had spoken to Mike Whitaker regarding the upcoming transition. Bryant stated that Whitaker had complimented the work the current administration had done with the implementation of the CSIP.
Holland discussed with the board and Bryant that ESSER money will be ending in Sept. 2024 and that currently there were four aides that were being paid by ESSER funds, along with 40% of the counselor’s salary.
During open session, the board also:
• reviewed the lunch and attendance report with no action taken
• reviewed and approved the substitute teacher report.
• reviewed and discussed the 2024-2025 proposed calendar with no action taken.
