The Dent County Commission met for its weekly meetings April 3 and April 7. In attendance were presiding commissioner Gary Larson, first district commissioner Keith Green, second district commissioner Jimmy Williams, and county clerk Angie Curley.
Reminder that only the following districts are holding an election: City of Salem; Dent County Fire Protection District; Rolla Fire Protection District; Rolla School District; Bunker School District; and Iron County School District. Go to your designated polling location to vote April 8 (today). Polls will be open from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. For any questions, call the county clerk’s office at 400 North Main Street at 573-729-4144.
Curley reported that she has balanced with the treasurer on all monthly accounts, and she has balanced with the collector and assessor on all monthly collections, abatements, and add-ons, to be approved by the commission.
Shannon VanKirk, county collector, shared that so far since applications went live for SB190, she has passed out 47 applications with 11 already turned in to be entered into the system. After the applications have been entered into the system, they will go to the commissioners for approval.
In the Monday meeting the agenda and minutes were approved. Curley reminded voters that polls open today (Tuesday) at 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Curley said nine people voted absentee on Saturday, with courthouse extended hours.
Payroll was to be approved later in the Monday meeting.

Second District Commissioner Jimmy Williams

Crew will be grading and fixing washouts on several roads including, 5610, 5615, 5630, 5120, 5150, and 5170. The public was reminded that crews sometimes have to do a temporary fix until the water or weather clears, to make the road passable to traffic.
Second District Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crews were checking roads after the rain and fixing damage on 3370 and 3260. Also road 3210 was going to be temporarily fixed to make it save for travel.
Both commissioners asked the public to be patient, as all of the roads will be fixed, but some are impassable now.
