The Fireworks Committee will be hosting a Christmas themed fundraising event next Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory, featuring lots of Christmas goodies for both kids and adults to enjoy. Put on your comfiest pajamas, sit down for some classic Christmas movies, and enjoy a delicious pancake bar from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sierra Connell, Fireworks Committee board member, also mentioned there will be a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
Connell also described that National Honor Society from Salem R-80 will be volunteering in the set-up, and there will be a visit from the Salem R-80 choir to bring some Christmas carols.
Tickets will cost $10 per person, though children 12 years and under are able to enjoy the event free. There will also be a breakfast basket raffle entry included with each ticket. All proceeds received from the event will go toward the 2025 firework celebration. Tickets can be purchased at Progressive Ozark Bank, The Chamber Office, The Bank of Salem, Town & Country Bank, and Riverways Federal Credit Union.
This is the committee’s first official independent fundraising event outside of the 2024 fireworks show.
Connell further described that the Fireworks Committee has grown over the past year, having formed in early 2024. Its goal is to grow to be self-sustaining in the future, with no need to host fundraising events in order to put on great Fourth of July fireworks shows. She encouraged everyone to stay tuned to hear about future events to help support the fireworks.
“We’re excited to see what 2025 has in store,” shared Connell.
Board members now include Sierra Connell, Kala Sisco, Brittany Shephard, Kristy Rushing, Hannah Heithold, Gabby Lopez, and Tina Brewer. The board is still looking for two more members, who are ideally open-minded and can bring some good ideas to the table.
