The Dent County Commission met for its regular meeting Thursday, Oct. 10. In attendance were presiding commissioner Gary Larson, first district commissioner Wes Mobray, and county clerk Angie Curley. Second district commissioner Gary Polk was not in attendance. There was no meeting held Monday, Oct. 14, as the courthouse was closed for a federal holiday.
Curley reported that bills are to be approved. Absentee voting continues through Nov. 4. The last day to apply and mail out an absentee ballot is Oct. 23. The first day to start voting no excuse absentee is Oct. 22. The courthouse will be open for absentee voting Saturday, Nov. 2, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. If voters need to update their address or information, please do so as soon as possible. If anyone would like a sample ballot, email the county clerk’s office or come in-person to the office to request one.
Curley will also be going to the R-3 school district to hold a mock election to educate fourth graders on the democratic process on Friday, Oct. 11.
Jen Tracy, candidate for 120th state representative, shared her thanks to Curley and her offices’ efforts on educating the public on the election and its process on social media and through Curley’s reports during county commission meetings.
Curley regularly updates the page with upcoming election dates and deadlines, and there are sample ballots available to review on the page, as well.
Larson attended the meeting for the Ozark River Solid Waste Management District executive board and went over several grant applications. The board only had $143,768.17 to disperse, and there were requests for $238,662.16. Adjustments were made to ensure that most applicants received funds.
