The North Wood R-IV Board of Education met for its regular meeting Jan. 14. In attendance were board members Aaron Brooks, Ron Hedrik, Jimmy Decker, Jarred Brown, and David Massengale. Not in attendance were Jenna Dunn and Jr. Rictor. Also in attendance were Jeff Dodson, JC Flores, Mike Manes, Lois Stacy, Chris Salzmann, Karen Huff, and Jason Petty.
The board discussed the strategic plan and S.B. 727. No school board election will be necessary.
In closed session, Dodson’s contract was extended for one year. A 5% raise for Dodson was approved for the 2025-26 school year.
Huff presented the board with an appreciation gift from CTA and PTO. Petty gave an update on the FEMA project.
After Salzmann discussed the estimated budget for the planned kitchen renovation, a motion was made to have ESP proceed with phase one of the project and all approved.
Dodson presented the board with a preliminary calendar for 2025-26 that will be voted on in March.
Dodson also informed the board:
• There will be a business after hours dinner at 6 p.m., Feb. 20
• Enrollment is at 13 for pre-kindergarten, and 160 for kindergarten through eighth grade. Attendance is at 94.2%.
