Scott Jadwin was the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Salem. Jadwin is the owner/operator of Jadwin Lumber Products, which also operates under the name Jadwin Sawmill, and is located in Salem. Jadwin Lumber has been operating for approximately 46 years since 1979. Forest Jadwin Products is estimated to generate $3.0 million in annual revenues and employs approximately 25 people at its headquarters location and 50 total employees across all locations.
The organization is engaged in manufacturing activities at the facility, primarily producing railroad ties and some board lumber. Railroad ties are sold green to buyers for further processing to produce creosoted ties for the rail industry. All waste products such as slabs, sawdust and mulch are sold to produce charcoal and wood pellets. The growth of timber in Missouri seems to outpace the harvest of timber, which is a good thing for the timber industry.
