Dent County Toy Drive and Salvation Army’s Angel Tree sign-ups will be held at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory on Monday, Nov. 25, and Monday, Dec. 2 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Longtime organizer of Dent County Toy Drive Dianne Godi shared that fundraising has gone really well this year, and that shoppers have been hard at work year-round getting things prepared. All that needs to be done now is to sign the children up, so volunteers can then pick out their toys. Toys will be passed out on Friday, December 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory.
Donations of new toys or funds are accepted year-round. All donations can be dropped off at Scenic River Industries.
In order to qualify, you must be a Dent County resident with a child 12 years of age or younger. You must bring proof of residency and proof of the child’s age—this can include a utility bill, birth certificate, report card, et cetera. The child must live with the adult that signs them up.
The Salvation Army and Toy Drive will need to know the interests of each child and clothing and shoe sizes. Organizers request that participation be limited to those in genuine need of assistance, so resources are distributed only to those in need.
Let’s work together to ensure every child has a joyful holiday season.
