The Dent County Commission met for a regular meeting Thursday, Feb. 13, during which commissioners heard from ClearBasin representative Michael Witt on software to be utilized for SB190 purposes. In attendance included presiding commissioner Gary Larson, first district commissioner Keith Green, second district commissioner Jimmy Williams, and county clerk Angie Curley. Also attending were county collector Shannon VanKirk and county assessor Jamie Homeyer.
The courthouse was closed Monday, Feb. 17 in observance of President’s Day.
Larson discussed calling elevator companies. One will be completing a free evaluation. The commission will be checking on applying for Opioid funds to assist in the costs of an elevator, due to using the courtroom for Drug Court. Larson will be attending two meetings, TAC and MRPC.
Curley reported absentee voting will begin Feb. 25 for the April 8 municipal election. She will be attending a MAC Board meeting in Jefferson City on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
Witt reported that counties throughout the state are beginning to adopt the SB190 ordinance. He emphasized the nature of the ClearBasin software is being user-friendly and configurable to each county’s application process. He further emphasized that the application process can be completed online or in-person. Pricing information on the software will be sent at a later time, Witt said.
Vankirk reported that monthly collections for January 2025 totaled $440,151.57. She will be starting work on the annual settlement.
During the commission meeting Thursday, Feb. 10, county treasurer Denita Williams reported on the monthly sales tax received:
• General revenue and law enforcement: $91,159.71; an increase of 0.39%, YTD.
• Road and bridge: $41,830.53; an increase of 0.79%, YTD.
• Jails: $84,083.13; an increase of 0.59%, YTD.
Both commissioners reported crew members will be out checking roads for needed maintenance and will be continuing to winterize roads for the expected winter weather conditions.
