According to the reports received from the Salem Police Department:
During the week of Dec. 2-9 there were a total of 123 calls for service. Officers with the Salem Police Department conducted 22 traffic stops for various traffic violations, with three resulting in a summons or arrest. Officers conducted three informational reports and no traffic accident investigations.
• Officers responded to the 300 block of West Roosevelt at approximately 7:30 a.m. Dec. 2, for a report of a vehicle that was broken into. It was reported that items were stolen out of the vehicle in the overnight hours. This incident is still under investigation.
• Officers responded to the 1200 block of North Jackson at approximately noon on Dec. 3, for a report of a disorderly male that was acting belligerent towards others. As a result of the investigation, it was found the male subject had an active warrant out of Green County Missouri with no bond. As a result of the active warrant Billy Coleman, 48, of Salem was arrested and incarcerated at the Dent County Jail awaiting extradition to Green County.
• An officer conducted a traffic stop on Dec. 6 at approximately 2:30 a.m. for a vehicle with an out-of-date registration. During the traffic stop it was found the driver had an active warrant out of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office for failing to stop at a red light. As a result, Leanna Haws, 24, of Salem was arrested and incarcerated at the Dent County Jail pending bond.
• An officer was dispatched to Walmart for a report of shoplifting on Dec. 6 at approximately 2 p.m. It was reported that a male subject had stolen $100 worth of merchandise and it was caught on video surveillance. This incident is still under investigation.
