The Dent County Fire Protection District Board met for a board meeting Wednesday, Oct. 15. In attendance included board members Mike Godi, David Greenshields, Dr. Leigh Ann Price, Jeff Stokes, and John Knight. The monthly reimbursement report was presented with a total of 26 calls for the month and 219 total calls for the year.
The next meeting will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11.
In old business, the Fidelity (CTI) Tower lease was tabled.
In new business, Director Stokes presented quotes for grant writing from Fire House Grants. After discussion, it was approved for Chief Dennis Floyd to start the process for professional grant writing services for the AFG grant with Fire House.
Stokes discussed MOSIP and asked for a motion for the board to sign a resolution for a Cooperation Agreement for the security investment of Public Funds with MOSIP, with the board approving.
In addition, Stokes discussed joining the Firefighter Association of Missouri (FFAM.) After discussion, the board approved joining the FFAM.
Stokes also reviewed the National Volunteer Fire Council benefits. After board discussion, it approved joining the National Volunteer Fire Council for board members and command staff.
Equipment and program quotes
Lieutenant Robbins presented bids for training room equipment and completion, with all approving to complete the project for a total of $5,000.
Captain Marfitt, meanwhile, presented information on the Junior FF Program. Following the presentation and discussion, the board approved the implementation of the program, pending legal review.
Knight presented quotes on crib units, digital fire training systems, and extraction kit. Knight also discussed rescue tools. After discussion, the board tabled the item, pending further information.
Floyd presented quotes for new hose nozzles. All accepted the bid from Sentinel for nozzles for the new trucks and to replace nonfunctioning nozzles. Tire quotes were presented for tires for truck 8020. After discussion, all accepted a bid from Mastertrack for $377.29 per tire.
Chief Dennis Floyd reported:
• The electric has been installed in the bay for the charging Drops for trucks
• Annual ladder tests have been completed and passed
• Training facility construction is coming along nicely
• Greg Thies and Scott Montoya will be attending instructor training school in November
The board went into closed session, citing I.A.W. 610.021 Section 11 competitive bidding.
