The North Wood R-IV Board of Education met for its monthly meeting Thursday, Nov. 13. In attendance included board members Aaron Brooks, Jr. Rictor, Ron Hedrick, Jimmy Decker, Jenna Dun, and David Massengale. Not in attendance was board member Jarred Brown.
Superintendent Jeff Dodson, Principal JC Flores, and Bookkeeper Lois Stacy were also in attendance.
Dodson presented the board with information regarding a grant to help with the purchase of a new bus. He also presented the board with a bid from Midwest for new buses. Massengale made a motion to purchase two new buses, and Rictor seconded it. The board approved the purchase.
Chris Salzman presented the board with a bid to complete kitchen renovations. The bid was approved as presented. In addition, the board approved paying Rommell Cowan for his work in the FEMA building.
The board discussed the audit for the 2024-25 school year. A communication letter from the auditor was presented to the board. The board approved the audit as presented.
The board also discussed the strategic plan; counselor’s meeting; MO MOST 529 plan; the upcoming April election; and sick leave pay.
Dodson provided an update on facilities, and Flores gave a presentation on the APR for the 2024-25 school year. Dodson informed the board that enrollment was at 15 for PK and 161 for K – 8 and attendance was at 97.7%.
The board approved the following items:
• Yearly counseling report
• An increase in tutoring pay to $25 per hour
• Safe Room Operations Plan
• Purchase of a Polaris 570 with a winch, windshield and snow removal blade
• The bank reconciliation procedure
