A Waynesville man has been charged in connection to the alleged sexual trafficking of a 13-year-old girl, according to documents filed in circuit court.
Kaleb H. Gibson, born 2000, is charged with felony counts of second-degree sexual trafficking of a child and first-degree statutory rape or attempted statutory rape. His bond was set at $600,000.
Two St. Robert women were charged Oct. 19 on charges alleging they’d been facilitating the prostitution of a 13-year-old girl, according to the case’s probable cause statement. The statement says Gibson had previously filed a report with law enforcement alleging the same 13-year-old girl had taken his firearm and the two had been in a relationship. It notes Gibson said he believed she was 18 years old. The statement also details Gibson is in the Missouri National Guard and works at Fort Leonard Wood.
The statement says a detective with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and investigator with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security followed up with Gibson and interviewed him in reference to his relationship with the 13-year-old girl. The statement quotes Gibson to say the two met through an online dating site, she began visiting him at his home, and he began paying her money. When asked how many times they’d had sex, the statement says Gibson raised his hands and spread his fingers symbolizing the number 10.
The two St. Robert women, Emma Marie Simpson, born 2004, and Danika Marie Gillen, born 1995, are each charged with one count of second-degree sexual trafficking of a child. They were taken into custody after the 13-year-old girl was found in the 14000 block of State Route Z in St. Robert. Court documents filed in those cases allege the 13-year-old girl was in possession of items of a sexual nature and marijuana paraphernalia.
Gillen was present in the room where the 13-year-old was found and a search of it located numerous baggies containing a crystalline substance as well as a syringe containing liquid. The documents detail the 13-year-old tested positive for marijuana, methamphetamine and ecstasy. Cell phones and tablets were also seized. The statement quotes Gillen as further making the spontaneous statement the 13-year-old was in a relationship with an adult male.
Court documents filed in Gibson’s case allege Simpson was present when the 13-year-old girl visited him. Documents filed in her case allege Simpson was paid $200 for facilitating prostitution.
The charges described above are merely accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before the court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
