According to reports by Salem Police Department:
Between April 16 and May 6 there was a total of 400 calls for service. Officers with the Salem Police Department conducted 57 traffic stops for various traffic violations with 12 resulting in a summons or arrest. Officers conducted six traffic accident investigations along with 15 informational reports. Of the calls for service and traffic stops the following reports were generated.
• Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Water St. and Franklin St. for a report of a disturbance at approximately 7 p.m. April 16. Investigation uncovered that a male subject was highly intoxicated and causing problems with people in the area. While attempting to speak with the subject, he was uncooperative and belligerent. As a result, a 51-year-old male was arrested and placed on a 12-hour safe keep due to his intoxication.
• An officer conducted a traffic stop at Franklin St. off Hwy 19 for a brake light not working at 8:30 p.m. April 19. Contact was made with the driver and the officer noticed the subject appeared to be intoxicated. An investigation was conducted and as a result a 31-year-old Salem male was arrested and later released on a summons to appear in court for driving while intoxicated.
• Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Water St. and Franklin St. for a report of a disturbance at approximately 6 p.m. April 21. Investigation uncovered that a male subject was highly intoxicated and causing problems with people in the area. As a result of the investigation a 51-year-old Salem male was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold pending the application of warrants.
• Officers were dispatched to Hickory St. and Third St. for a report of a domestic disturbance at approximately 6 p.m. April 22. During the investigation, it was found one of the subjects involved had an active warrant out of the City of Salem. As a result, Alfred Neil Burns, 30, of Salem, was arrested and incarcerated at the Dent County Jail.
• An officer conducted a traffic stop for speeding near the intersection of Hwy. 19 and Hwy. 32 at approximately 10 p.m. April 22. During the traffic stop the officer found the subject to be intoxicated and, after further investigation, placed the subject under arrest. As a result, a 19-year-old Salem male was arrested and later released to a sober driver and issued a summons to appear in court for driving while intoxicated.
• An officer located a male subject who had a warrant for his arrest at approximately 2 p.m. April 27. As a result, Tim Cardoni, 52, of Salem, was arrested and posted bond on his warrant out of the City of Salem for failure to appear.
• An officer arrested a female subject for an active warrant out of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office during a traffic stop at approximately 12 a.m. April 29. As a result, 51-year-old Denise Fann was arrested and posted bond on her warrant for failure to appear.
• An officer conducted a traffic stop at approximately 1:30 a.m. April 30 at the intersection of McArthur St. and Third St. for a vehicle failing to signal and striking a curb. During the traffic stop the officer found the subject was intoxicated. After a short investigation a 26-year-old Salem male was arrested for DWI prior offender.
• An officer arrested a subject for an active warrant out of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 5:30 a.m. April 30. Officers were contacted for an intoxicated male at Dirt Cheap. When officers arrived, they were informed the male had an active warrant. As a result, 25-year-old Michael Shaw,of Salem, was arrested and incarcerated at the Dent County Jail on his no bond warrant.
• An officer conducted a traffic stop at approximately 11:30 p.m. April 30 at the intersection of Main St. and Center St. for a vehicle crossing the center line of traffic. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle it was apparent the subject was impaired. Following a short investigation, a 20-year-old Salem female was arrested for DWI and later released on summons.
• An officer noticed a male subject (who had a warrant for his arrest) was near the intersection of Main St. and Franklin St. at approximately 9 p.m. May 1. Contact was made with the subject and the warrants were confirmed. As a result, 21-year-old Shane Murr of Salem was arrested and incarcerated in the Dent County Jail on his warrants with no bond.
• An officer was dispatched to Casey’s on Main St. for a report of an intoxicated subject at approximately 6 p.m. May 3. While at the call, officers noticed a subject they knew to have active warrants. As a result, officers arrested 29-year-old Ashlie Sapaugh for warrants out of the Phelps County Sheriff’s Office and Rolla Police Department. Sapaugh was incarcerated with no bond awaiting extradition.
• An officer conducted a traffic stop at Walmart for numerous lane violations at approximately 12 a.m. May 5. During the traffic stop it was found that the subject was impaired. An investigation was conducted, and the subject was arrested for DWI along with possession of controlled substance. As a result, a 31-year-old Kentucky female was arrested and later released on summons.
