The University of Missouri Dent County Extension met Nov. 29.
Extension Council members in attendance through Zoom were Cami Barnitz Chapman, Janelle Blair, Kelly Chapman, Dalton Connell, Chris Holliday, Jason Jones, Betty Kunkel, Terry Phelps, and Dalton Sanders. Council members attending in person were Kyle Case, Darlene Dahms, Mike Dunn, Dru Howard, Stevie Patterson, and Tracy Strange. Regional Council member Thom Haines attended in person. City of Salem representative, Melissa DuBois; Dent County District One Commissioner, Wes Mobray; and Farm Bureau representative, Jim Freeman; all attended in person. Youth member, Kennedy Chapman, attended online and Irvin Johnson attended in person. Extension member attending in person was Sarah Massengale. Eric Meusch attended online. Special guest speaker and feral hog education, Kevin Crider, was notable to attend.
At the meeting, the following took place:
• The council unanimously approved a pay raise for clerical staff,
• October minutes were reviewed and unanimously approved,
• The treasurer’s report was reviewed and unanimously approved,
• Dent County staff reports were reviewed as written,
• The group unanimously passed a motion to add Amy Glenn (the extension’s youth program associate) to the phone plan,
• The Program and Public Relations Committee will meet in January for February banquet/recognition,
• The Personnel and Policy Committee reported that secretary performance reviews completed and needs signature,
• The Election and Nominee Committee will review election results in January and propose slate of officers,
• The Resource Development Committee presented thr budget. The committee needs to meet before the January meeting to determine their investment strategy and 2022 plan. Decision and vote will occur later in January,
• The Audit Committee had nothing to report,
• The Regional and State Advisory Council Committees–Betty Kunkel and Thom Haines, had no updates to report,
• During the Youth Representative Report Irvin Johnson spoke of FFA fruit delivery happening, shop projects are coming to an end; Parsons and Strain are wrapping up—Dalton Sanders will be in that position. The National FFA convention was held and there were 58,000 in attendance. Tracy Strange talked about students that helped with tornado damage.
The December meeting was cancelled. The next meeting will be 5 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory.
