The Dent County Commission met for its regular meetings Thursday, Oct. 16 and Monday, Oct. 20. In attendance included Presiding Commissioner Gary Larson, First District Commissioner Keith Green, Second District Commissioner Jimmy Williams, and County Clerk Angie Curley.
Curley shared that she will be doing a voter registration drive at the Salem High School from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Faculty, administration, and students can all use the opportunity to register to vote, so long as they are 17 and a half years of age and 18 years on Election Day. On Wednesday, Curley will be returning to Salem High School to educate students on elections for Kim Thompson’s “Life Skills” class.
After meeting with the workman’s compensation representative, Curley reported premiums were down 11%. She thanked all office holders and employees for maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.
Curley further shared that CART funds are projected to increase next year, according to county data analyzed. CART funds are projected to receive $1.08 million.
Larson was made aware by the Dent County Times of the “No Kings” rally to be held in Salem on Saturday, Oct. 25. He said he would discuss the rally with Police Chief Joe Chase and Sheriff Bob Wells, to ensure they are aware. In addition, he stated that everyone has the right to protest but reminded all those in attendance to remain calm.
During the County Commission meeting held Thursday, Oct. 16, commissioners met with MoDOT Engineer Preston Kramer regarding the Dent County transportation plan, as facilitated by Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC.) District One Commissioner Keith Green
Crew members plan to grade county roads 5220 and 5170. Crew members plan to cut brush on County Road 5520. Crew members will be changing grader blades.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members plan to grade county roads 3120, 2360, 2200, and 2340. Crew members will also be hauling rock to County Road 2360. Crew members are planning to go to Springfield to retrieve more chip and seal patcher.
District One Commissioner Keith Green
Crew members will be brush cutting on County Road 5520. Crew members will be completing maintenance on several pieces of equipment, including servicing a grader, servicing truck #119, putting tires on the grader, and changing out grader blades.
District Two Commissioner Jimmy Williams
Crew members will be grading on county roads 3190, 2370, 2210, 2200, 2190, 3193, and 3195. Brush cutting will be completed on County Road 2110 and hauling rock on County Road 2200. Crew members will also be removing debris on County Road 2330 and repairing a box culvert on County Road 3160.
