The Salem High volleyball squad has been seeded fourth for the upcoming Missouri Class 3 District 9 Tournament, to be held Oct. 21-27 at Cuba High School.
Sullivan is the top-ranked district squad while St. Clair is seeded No. 2, Owensville No. 3, Salem No. 4, Cuba No. 5 and St. James No. 6. Sullivan and St. Clair received first-round byes.
In first-round matches Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Cuba, Salem faces host Cuba at 5 p.m. and St. James plays Owensville at 6:30 p.m.
In the semifinals Oct. 23, Sullivan meets the Salem/Cuba winner at 5 p.m. while St. Clair plays the St. James/Owensville winner at 6:30 p.m. The district title match is slated for 6 p.m. Oct. 27.
The Lady Tigers finished 1-2 in varsity matches last week.
Salem defeated Bunker on the road 3-2 (23-25, 25-18, 25-12, 23-25, 15-11) Monday Oct. 6. On Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Cabool the Lady Tigers lost 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-14, 25-18). And Thursday, Oct. 9 Salem fell to Licking 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 27-25) at the SHS gym.
The Salem junior varsity team beat Bunker 2-0; topped Cabool 2-0 (25-7, 25-10) and topped Licking 2-0 (25-23, 25-19). The Salem freshman squad downed Cabool 2-0 (25-4, 25-10).
The Lady Tiger varsity squad is now 10-19-1.
Salem is to end the regular season this week, hosting Plato Monday, playing at Mountain View Liberty Tuesday and at Mountain Grove Thursday (5 p.m.). The Lady Tiger jayvee team is also slated to compete in the Liberty JV Tournament Saturday.
