The Dent County Health Center Board of Trustees met March 18. In attendance were Sandra Headrick, Dennis Floyd, Shirley Larson, Roma Jones and Kendra Mobray.
Health center administrator Kendra Mobray updated the Board on the current COVID-19 status in Dent County. To date 962 confirmed cases and 177 probable cases have been investigated; 81 of those cases have required hospitalization. As of 4 p.m. March 18, there were zero active cases, and 28 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths.
Health Center has worked closely with SMDH to host several vaccine events. A large mass vaccination clinic was held at the Dent County Commons Feb. 11 and 12, booster doses for those vaccinated at the Commons were given March 11 and 12. Other vaccine clinics have been held at the Dent County Fire Station for individuals that qualify in Phase 1A and Phase 1B – tiers 1-3. To date, 2,990 first doses have been administered through the vaccine clinics and 2,130 booster doses.
According to Missouri Dept. of Health and Senior Services, as of March 12: 1,953 Dent County residents have received one dose of vaccine and 952 have had a complete series of two shots. Governor Parson announced recently that Missouri’s Vaccine Phase 2 opened March 29, and Phase 3 will open April 9. Vaccines are available at the Health Center, Moser Pharmacy, Vandivort Pharmacy, and Walmart Pharmacy. To schedule an appointment at the Health Center, call (573) 729-3106. Information will be released to the public through Facebook and local media outlets as additional vaccine opportunities arise.
The MacArthur location has been listed with Elwood Real Estate since September 2020, after much discussion a motion was made to reduce the price to $159,900.
After more discussion, a vote was made to rescind the vote from the February 2021 meeting to increase the payment of the Scenic Rivers Blvd. location, and table the discussion for the April meeting. All were in favor.
Also discussed at the meeting:
• Season-to-date total of reported influenza cases remains at one.
• WIC continues to be conducted mostly over the phone.
• MCH sent out a survey via Facebook to assist in planning for the next five-year Priority Health Issue. Work plans will be due to the state April 1.
• DCHC expenses for February were approved.
The next regular board meeting date was set for 5 p.m. April 15.
