On Sept. 12, 2025, the Dent County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a Facebook post authored by Deputy Julie Strebe. As a result, an internal investigation was initiated in accordance with department policy and state law.
Pursuant to RSMo 590.502, commonly known as the Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights, specific procedures must be followed for any law enforcement officer who may be subject to disciplinary action, demotion, dismissal, transfer, or economic loss. This statute requires a formal complaint, an administrative hearing prior to termination, and adherence to defined timelines. Agencies that fail to comply with these provisions may be subject to court-ordered payment of costs and attorney fees.
