Houston, Mo., traditionally celebrates Kelly — who grew up on a farm east of the town — with an annual festival the last Saturday of April. The state day was selected to coincide with the event that draws thousands to the Texas County seat.
Plans are already underway for the 2026 version that honors Kelly, the sad-face clown, whose originality and talent captured audiences in entertainment venues worldwide for more than six decades.
The day features dozens of activities and special entertainment. A lineup will be announced soon. Follow updates at downtownhoustonmo.org.

John Hewkin has been a sports fan since he was a kid. He’s played, coached and been a fan of sports. I was a sports writer for 15 years before moving back to Missouri, but to this day you will still find me in my man cave a lot of nights and weekends watching something that requires a ball.
