The Dent County Fire Protection District (DCFPD) has finalized the transfer of three surplus fire apparatus to neighboring departments, ensuring these valuable resources remain within our community.
1. The Lenox Rural Fire Department will receive the 1995 Freightliner fire engine.
2. The Jadwin Volunteer Fire Department will receive the 1992 International tanker (2,500 gallons.)
3. The Montauk Rural Fire Department will receive the 2002 Sterling tanker (2,000 gallons.)
By keeping these vehicles in the county, DCFPD strengthens the mutual aid system and provides neighboring departments with additional tools to support our community during major incidents.
While these apparatuses have been retired from DCFPD’s fleet, they remain valuable assets for our neighboring departments and will continue to play a vital role in protecting Dent County residents when neighboring agencies are called upon.
“We’re proud that these trucks will remain here in Dent County, where they can still serve the public for years to come,” said Fire Chief Dennis Floyd. “Firefighting in a small community like ours is a team effort, and when one department gets stronger, the whole county benefits.”
These partnerships highlight the importance of Proposition Fire, ensuring taxpayer investments not only enhance DCFPD but leave a lasting impact by strengthening fire protection across the entire county.
