Thanks to the community’s generosity, the Phelps Health Foundation raised $18,765 at its Butterfly Release Celebration on May 18. Held at Huffman’s Flowers of the Field in St. James, this annual event honors loved ones and celebrates life.
The event began with opening remarks from John Money, senior vice president of Human Resources and philanthropy, and Paige Heitman, director of philanthropy. Chaplain Daniel Phillips offered a heartfelt prayer, and Chaplain Nicholas Lewis read a touching poem. Christopher Spencer, MD, president of the Foundation board, ended the festivities by reading the list of honorees, followed by the release of 150 monarch butterflies.
“Seeing the butterflies take flight was a magical experience," Money said. “We hope this event brought a sense of peace and hope to everyone who attended and served as a beautiful way to remember and honor their loved ones.”
Proceeds from this event benefit the Foundation’s Mission Fund, which supports Phelps Health initiatives and patient needs.
Donors included: Annette Wells, Clay and Brooke Hartsfield, Dale and Janece Martin, Davin and Paige Heitman, Denine Grivetti, Diana Pantaleo, Drs. Joe and Cathy Bond, Dr. Ronald D. Wilkerson, First State Community Bank, Gingerbread House, Inc., Huffman’s Flowers of the Field, Intercounty Electric Operation Round Up, Kaitlin Mace Photography, Linda’s Ladies, McCarthy Building Companies, Null & Son Funeral Home, OxyCare Medical Supply Company, Paige Fairbairn Music, Patrick Barron, Phelps County Bank, Price Chopper, Rolla Lions Club, Spencer Manor Winery, Sunset Acres of St. James, The Miller Family, and U.S. Bank.
