A suspect was taken into custody in Salem on July 2 following a shooting and operation by the Rolla SWAT Team, according to a press release from the Salem Police Department.
The release states at approximately 10 p.m. July 2 officers with the Salem Police Department responded to the 700 block of South Elmer Street after receiving information that a shooting had taken place, a victim was rushed to the ER, and then later flown for emergency treatment. The suspected shooter remained inside the residence and refused to comply with officers’ commands to exit. A perimeter was established with the assistance of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol. The Rolla SWAT was contacted and responded to the scene to assist. The suspected shooter was taken into custody without incident after a prolonged standoff.
