The Dent County Fire Protection District Board met Dec. 13 for its regular meeting. Board members present were Craig Smith, David Greenshields, and Liz Gruendel.
The board reviewed the financial report and had an ending balance of $2,155.62. A monthly reimbursement report was presented, showing 250 total calls for the year.
During old business, it was mentioned that the windows in the dispatch office are being completed, and electrical service will likely be hooked up in the new multipurpose room after the first of the year.
Chief Brad Nash presented the board with the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Policy for the NFPA 1851 Standard for Care and Maintenance of Fire Fighting Turnout Gear and Equipment. The board voted unanimously to adopt the PPE policy as presented with FEMA guidelines. Nash also reported that the department has put in for a matching grant for new turnout gear and oxygen bottles.
The date set for the next meeting is 6 p.m. Jan. 10, 2023, at the Dent County Fire Protection District station.
Incidents reported included:
• 18 building fires; 18 grass fires; 31 EMS assists; 19 motor vehicle accidents without injury; 33 cancelled dispatches en route.
