Lil Collins, a member of both the Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild (PPQG) and the Bourbon Quilters Guild (BQG) invited the PPQG miniature quilt special interest group to present a program highlighting miniature quilts at the BQG.
Bonnie Breuer of PPQG is pictured holding a few of the many miniature quilt work samples displayed during the BQG meeting. Miniature quilt work, at first, can be a bit intimidating. However after working with other quilters and picking up tips, it’s not only fun, but it can also improve the quilter’s skills when making larger sizes of other quilts.
The BQG meets the third Tuesday each month from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and provides a little morning snack, while sipping coffee and chatting. They can be found on the lower level of the First United Methodist Church, located at 610 Pine St. in Bourbon.
Lil says to arrive early and join in the chat. You may contact Lil at 314-779-4541 for more information.
The Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild meets at the First Baptist Church on 10th St. and Cedar St. in Rolla the first Thursday each month, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. to visit before the meeting. PPQG also has several daytime special interest groups, such as Machine Embroidery, Miniature Quilt Design, and Wool Applique. The PPQG invites anyone interested in quilts or quilt making to join them at their meetings.
Both of the guilds always enjoy meeting quilt beginners and enthusiasts. It’s a great time of year to start a fun hobby!
